Description
Bleasdale Studio was commissioned by a young couple to undertake the full renovation and extension of a dilapidated period property in Prestwich, Manchester. The brief called for the transformation of a neglected house into a contemporary, light-filled home with flexibility to accommodate future family growth.
Drawing on the eclectic architectural character of the surrounding neighbourhood, we developed a design that introduces both side and rear extensions, establishing a generous open-plan arrangement at ground floor level. Bi-fold windows open directly onto the garden, blurring the threshold between inside and out and enhancing the sense of space and connection to garden.
The reconfigured layout provides a rationalised internal flow across two storeys, with a formal lounge, toilet, and expansive kitchen/living/dining zone at ground floor, and three well-proportioned bedrooms and a family bathroom at first floor level.
